“I owe a great deal to Rubens”, these words sum up the work and vision of Curtis Williams a talented Fine Art / Advertising photographer based in Los Angeles. His images have been published and seen around the world, Curtis has been working for many prestigious clients as Young & Rubicam, Grey, Foote, Cone & Belding, Vogue, Elle, Viva, Marie Claire, People, Coca Cola, 7-Up, Kraft Foods, Mc Donald’s, Good Year, Michelob Beer, and many more.
His works through his life have been a constant search to embody, with the help of Light, the true essence of the human spirit, “….the women I photograph are warm and unafraid of showing emotions. I wish all people would reach out to each other”, these words associate with the beautiful images Curtis creates and offers, brings us to feel a very strong emotional bonding with the subject in her/his moment of joy, bliss, happiness, love…… Mr. Williams says about the 17th Century Master Painter Rubens, “…he used light and color to capture a quality that later artists and photographers have often managed to miss the inner strength of women, Rubens’ paintings show that
such a reservoir of strength is both beautiful and womanly, I try to express the same concept in my photographs”.Indeed Curtis is painting with light, he calls his photography works “light paintings”, in which you can find the essential elements of an old painting with its hues, tones, lights, and shadow brush strokes. Looking at them is like going back to times when poetry suffused moments of pure emotion, his photographs are etched with the same kind of strength, there is no way you can escape the sense of beauty and purity of those images, a dream-like unique experience.
